T3 Gadget Awards 2012 closed the year with yet another set of awards given to companies which produce great and highly-advanced technological innovations to their new gadgets. The world’s largest manufacturer of smartphones has scooped the top prize at the T3 Gadget Awards for the Samsung S3 handset and it was actually a bit unexpected. Samsung Inc. has stolen the crown for this year’s T3 Gadget Awards with its Galaxy S3 handset, taking home the gong for Phone of the Year.

Even if there is an evident competition between Apple’s iPhone 4S and HTC’s One X, the Android Smartphone still managed to win them all as it received most of the votes from T3.com readers, only making it clear that it has the unwavering popularity among all gadget-lovers and gadget-buyers from all parts of the world. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has ammased a legion of fans, proving that bigges is almost always better, and all of these must be thanked to its stunning 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display and 8-megapixel rear-end snapper, while the inclusions of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology and S Voice-Samsung’s alternative to Siri- have helped it stay competitive.

This has become another achievement for Samsung, leaving Apple mouth-dropped and bitter for yet another defeat.

Does Samsung’s Galaxy S4 Live Up to Its Standards?

Samsung Galaxy S4Samsung Galaxy S4 is the newest among the line of smartphones of Samsung and it is probably the latest revamped version of its top-selling S3 phone but the only difference is it has a wider and bigger screen comapred with S3 and reviewers also said that it also has a few software gimmicks. However, in the latest reviews coming out these days, it was found out that Samsung Galaxy S4 is no longer living uo the hype.

“The Galaxy is still a beautiful, high-horsepower Android phone,” David pogue, a columnist from New York Times, wrote. “But basically, it’s an updated Galaxy S3. If this were Apple, who adds the letter S to denote a slightly upgraded model (“iPhone 4S,” for example), Samsung might have called this phone the Galaxy S3S.”

It was just last March 2013 when Samsung unveiled Galaxy S4 in New York. Galaxy S3 comes in only a 4.8 inch screen while S$ sports a 5-inch screen with 1.9 GHz quad-core processor in which S3 only has 1.4 GHz. Meanwhile, S4 comes with a 13 megapixel camera while S3 coms with an 8 megapixel camera.

Beating Apple Inc’s iPhones, Samsung already sold more than 40million smartphones so far while S4 hasn’t surpassed that yet. “(The S4) looks for all the world like the Galaxy S III — despite having a bigger screen and more horsepower, at 7.9mm and 4.6 ounces it’s actually imperceptibly thinner and lighter than the S III. But copying the S III wasn’t a good idea.” David Pierce of Verge said.

Research: Galaxy S3 Takes Top Spot in Smartphone Market

Samsung remains on top of every mobile providers in the world as a matter of fact, Samung’s Galaxy S3 takes the top spot in the Smartphone market, research shows. They say that using Samsung’s Galaxy S3 is very helpful compared to iPhone, especially when you are using it when you travel.

The famous Galaxy S3 of Samsung Electronics became the best-selling smartphone model in the world in the previous quarter, pushing aside Apple Inc’s iPhone, which has dominated the chart for more than two years, research firm Strategy Analytics said on a report they released last Thursday.

Based on the estimates given by Strategy Analytics, it was found out that Samsung sold a total of 18 million S3 models during the third quarter this year while iPhone 4 only got the total sales of 16.2 million, very far behind Samsung’s sales. The strong sales of the flagship Galaxy S3 which comes with a large 4.8 inch touchscreen helped Samsung post a record of $7.3 billion operating profit in the July-September quarter.

According to analyst Neil Mawston, he said that the new iPhone 5 will more likely reclaim the top post for Apple in the current quarter and he added this in his statement: “Samsung’s Galaxy S3 has proven wildly popular with consumers and operators across North America, Europe and Asia.

The year 2012 is not yet over so we will still be expecting more sales to come especially by the end of December earlier.

Samsung, Still on the Lead in Smartphones

The growing demand for smartphones, especially the latest models, still continues until this very moment. And with this, Samsung can’t seem to get enough of the requests for new features and developments. Right now, it was pretty obvious that Samsung is the leading company for smartphones as it continues to extend its lead over Apple, probably because of the fact that its new Galaxy phones came out before Apple updated its iPhone. IDC presented this fact last Friday.

When Samsung’s Galaxy S3 phones were released, it got good reviews even if it was released late in the second quarter. It simply means that the smartphones’s latest models are being sought after and watched upon by the people. Elsewhere, in the United States, the recently released phones work with the faster fourth-generation, or 4G, cellular networks that major wireless companies have been building. It’s not really surprising that users prefer smartphones because Galaxy’s screen is larger compared to iPhone’s. Another thing is, Samsung phone is much lighter and thinner, which makes it more convenient to use.

Based on the facts that we have gathered, the current model of Apple which is iPhone 4S, the one which came out last October, has been dropping in sales months after each release. Meanwhile, an iPhone qith 4G capabilities isn’t expected to come out until this fall. This could only mean that Samsung could still have the chance to think of something better to produce.

Another thing, according to the statement given out by IDC, Samsung Electronics Co. shipped 50.2 million smartphones worldwide during the second quarter and had a market share of 33 percent, way higher compared to the 17 percent share a year ago. We’ll keep you posted for more updates.
